Summer desserts are an art, because they should not only be delicious, beautiful and sweet, but also refreshing. Most often in the heat we prefer ice cream, trying not to read and not see the whole list of chemical additives, which is located on its label. But there is a great healthy alternative – frozen yogurt, which in addition is not so difficult to make right at home. I’ll tell you how.
- Number of servings: 2 servings
- Cooking time: 4 hours
Ingredients for making frozen yogurt:
- Natural yogurt with no additives (Greek yogurt is fine) 10.6 oz.
- Brown sugar 5 oz.
- Vanilla sugar 0.5 oz.

Making frozen yogurt
1. Mix the yogurt with the sugar
Natural yogurt is yogurt that has no additives and a very short shelf life. In addition, it should be thick, not drinkable. You can choose the fat content according to your taste, in this case it does not matter.
Place the natural thick yogurt in a blender bowl, sprinkle it with brown (cane) and vanilla sugar. Whisk everything until smooth. All the sugar should dissolve.
Important: if you suddenly think the yogurt is too sweet or smells too strong, don’t worry, after freezing it will taste more bland and have a less pronounced vanilla flavor. Keep this in mind, too, if you’re going to experiment with flavors of frozen yogurt by adding different berries or fruits to it.
2. We freeze the yogurt
Transfer the yogurt, mixed with sugar, to a suitable size plate or container, close with a lid and send to the freezer for exactly 1 hour.
Take the slightly frosted yogurt out of the freezer and whisk again with a mixer. This is to ensure that the dessert has a nice texture after it is completely frozen.
Re-whipped yogurt again close with a lid and send it to freeze until it is completely thickened, i.e. for at least 4 hours. Depending on your freezer, you may need a little more time.
3. We serve frozen yogurt
Serve this frozen yogurt just as if it were regular ice cream. That is, just spread it in creams, garnished with grated chocolate or fresh berries, make a fruit salad with it, or spread it on homemade waffles. Simply put, make whatever dessert you like with frozen yogurt. Or you can just eat it right away without thinking too much, it will still be very tasty.
Tips for the recipe
- Yogurt can be ground in a blender, along with berries, orange peel or chocolate, to give it a proper flavor, and then cook it, following the recipe.
- To make the consistency of frozen yogurt perfectly creamy, you can grind it with a blender not only once, an hour after freezing, but also do it periodically, every 2-3 hours, after returning the yogurt back to the freezer.
